ABA Program In California For All People
CFA’s ABA program in California works with all ages, all developmental disabilities, and all settings, to effectively work with clients with challenging behaviors, ranging from mild to severe. Along with families and other caretakers, CFA provides behavior management consultation and support to service providers, such as residential programs, day programs, and supported living service programs.
We Work to Reduce Challenging Behaviors
The aim of applied behavior analytic services is to reduce or eliminate challenging behaviors by working closely with family members and caretakers, or facility providers, to implement positive behavior support strategies based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Clients in our ABA program in California may present with exceptional challenges that a caretaker is having difficulty in managing or a service provider may not have existing access to a behavior management consultant.
What A Session Looks Like
Sessions are unique to the person and setting! Generally, services within the client’s environment are performed following the assessment and development of an individualized behavior support plan (BSP). Following development of a BSP, primary caretakers receive training to ensure they possess the skills and knowledge required to successfully implement a client’s BSP. Once caretakers have demonstrated the ability to implement the behavior support plan during training, they are considered ready to implement a client’s BSP, with coaching and support by the CFA team. CFA’s coaching model is based upon the principles of ABA and is intended to increase and maintain consistent and correct implementation of a client’s BSP (intervention fidelity) by caretakers, as well as facilitate generalization of skills learned when targeted. Our ABA program in California involves task clarification at the start of a coaching session to remind a caretaker to perform key components of the client’s BSP; prompting an appropriate intervention response as outlined in the BSP, modeling for the caretaker, reinforcement to strengthen correct implementation behaviors; and providing confirmative or corrective feedback, in the moment and post-session.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take insurance?
We do not. We are regional center funded or contracted privately.
How do you provide telehealth?
In some circumstances we provide telehealth. Telehealth can be provided via any HIPPA compliant method that the client has access to. We find in person consultation to be much more beneficial.
What can I expect from a session?
Sessions are formatted to a client and/or family’s unique needs. Just like it should be!
Do I (the parent) need to be present?
Yes, for ABA services, it is part of the service design that caretaker be participatory in the session. Parent participation is not necessary for PA (Personal Assistant) services.
